W
elcome to the pastor's desk! We are at a turning point in ministry where the voice of those who are looking for the Lord's return must again let their voices be heard.
We have gone almost completely silent on this subject. Most of us are not preaching about it, our conversations are not directed around it: and as a result we have lost our focus.
Mark 13:35 . Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning." This is a message of necessity, message of urgency, and a message of expediency. Our level of expectation will determine our level of excitement. When we look across the church from an ecclesiastical point of view, it is clear that there is not much expectation generated individually or corporatelyThere is a dearth when it comes to the preaching of the second coming of Christ. We have lost our spiritual mojo. Among the many meanings and definitions of the word mojo, (and by the way, it’s used in ways I would not care to mention), but I like the term, personal magnetism, charm, and charisma. Here is one thought, certain drug is a narcotic’s addict. It says, these mojos will rob you blind if you don’t keep an eye on them. Certain drugs cause intoxication, and some do lead to addiction. Some of the meanings of intoxication are exhilaration, excitement, or euphoriathis is what we have lost: The excitement about the Holy Spirit, the hunger and desire for more of him, and the addiction to the manifestation and saturation of his presence in our lives. We have lost the euphoria, a feeling of great happiness or well-being, commonly exaggerated and not necessarily well founded. This is the reason, in my opinion why some of us are so depressed, dull, and discouraged. There is no expectationtherefore there is no anticipation. As a result it seems like we have come to a culdesack, a dead end. We need to begin again to speak about, look for, and anticipate the return of Christ. As we observe the moral decline, the natural disasters, wars, rumors of wars: we ought to be more aware of what the Bible says about the end times.Although we attribute some the downward spiral of moral, ethics, and values to government let’s also be aware that the Bible tells us to expect them.In reference to the end of this age, the end of the times of the Gentiles which culminates in Christ’s second advent, Luke says in ch. 21:25-28...
Verse 36 is most important because there is the promise of a rapturewatch, keep looking for and anticipate the return of your Lord. This is the Christian's hope to escape this great and terrible time.
Revelation 22:20 says He which testifieth these things saith, surely I come quickly. Amen, Even so come Lord Jesus. For those who look for him will he appear in glory
Remember to come back again and see what the Lord will have in store to say to you
To look up means to watch with outstretched neck. In verse 25 there is the warnings in view of the second coming of Christread This actually speaks of the time during the tribulation.
