I am sure you would agree with me that the church has lost most of its power in a time when it is needed more than ever. Note that I didn't say God has lost His power because he never have and never will. I am very concerned that most of our gathering today does not emphasize the importance of our standing with God: rather, every effort is being made to meet people's social crave. Paul told Timothy, "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ...lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God." 2 Tim. 3:1-5

The world as we know it is permeated and inundated with pleasure, pleasures that only gratifies the flesh and gives no glory to God. We are at a crucial turning point where we must examine ourselves as we are told by the apostle Paul in 2 Cor.13:5 to "Examine yourselves, whether ys be in the faith; prove your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"

I cannot overemphasize the importance for us to get back to the place where we are hungry for God. Hungry for his presence in our lives, hungry to feel his anointing, desperate to share his love in a reciprocal manner. He has always been giving! it's time for us to give back to him.

The devil has disguised himself and we have fallen for his ploy to distract us with things of lesser value or of little importance. We should pay attention that it doesn't matter what we achieve in life it never seem to be enough...so he just keep us busier and busier each day trying to get to the point where we can relax and say we have made it. Now we can give God some time. Watch that! That's another of his tricks...life is like a floating beach ball on the waves of the sea. If you are not careful you keep grabbing after it and it keeps slipping away from you. The same waves you're riding to catch it are the same ones pushing it away...soon you will find yourself too far in the deep, and too exhausted to return, and the rest is history.

Remember to come back again and see what the Lord will have in store to say to you

Bishop's Biography-A Synoptic View

Bishop Orville R. Beckford Sr. was born on July 19th 1955 to Ivy Henry and Egerton Beckford in St Andrew Jamaica, where he received his secular education. Bishop Orville Beckford became a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Cavaliers, St. Andrew on July 16th  1972. While at the local church he served as leader of the Men’s department, served as assistant youth director,  Sunday school teacher, and band leader.  He got married to Deana Murphy in February 18th 1978 and they both became the proud parents of three sons, Orville Jr., Delton, and Jaanai.  In 1978 Bishop Orville Beckford left the church of God of Prophecy and went to assist his mother in her ministry at the Bethlehem Reform Church of God. While in this church he was appointed evangelist and later became an ordained minister, and served as leader of the local church for a number of years. He also served as National Evangelist for six years.

Certainly the anointing of God was on his life during this time of his ministry. Many souls were led to Christ and others were revived.  In 1987 the Lord spoke to Bishop Beckford’s heart and pointed him back to the place of his birth-the Church Of God of Prophecy. This was difficult because he had no plan to return. At first he was hesitant he could not understand why God was changing his direction so he lingered for a while. Finally he said yes to the voice of God. He returned to the Church of God of Prophecy in 1987 and was immediately appointed Lay Minister in the local church at Cavaliers, St. Andrew where his ministry continued to bloom. In the 1988 National Convention he was appointed pastor for the Chastworth church, which he pastored for five years.  In 1992 He was called to be the District Overseer for St. Vincent and St. Lucia in the Eastern Caribbean where he served until March 1995.

His ministry shined in this area and transcended to the whole region. Many souls were led to the Lord. Membership in some areas doubled, some tripled, and others even quadrupled. Through the leading of the lord and the anointing on his life the members in that region experienced personal revival that led to the revival of the church.  In November of 1994 He and his family migrated to the United States, in  Brooklyn New York. He went back to his ministry in the Eastern Caribbean  but felt it was important to be with his family with three sons growing up in the new York area. He then resigned his office and returned to the United States in March 1995. It wasn’t long before he was asked to pastor the church in Rochester New York. The name Rochester was foreign to him, he had no idea where this church was. However, he knew that it was located in New York. After discussing it with his wife and children he decided to take up the task. Since then he has been pastoring the church in Rochester.  Ministry Development

Bishop Beckford has a passion for the word of God, and has gone to great lengths to develop his theological skills. Rightly divining God’s word is his specialty. In 1986 he went to the Morris Cerello School of ministry and received a certificate, attended Bible Training Institute 1987-1989 in Kingston, Jamaica where he graduated with a diploma, and was the valedictorian for his class. The Advanced course was offered in 1990, which he did and received a certificate. Completed the Foundations Course offered by the Church of God of Prophecy in 2001. Bishop Orville Beckford currently holds a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Northstar Bible Institute in Greece, New York. He was the valedictorian for the graduating class. He has also completed many other certificate courses including, LDI, Leadership Development Institute: “Leadership Principles” in 1996, and “Church Revitalization” in 1997. In May 2007 he graduated from Louisiana Baptist University with BA in Biblical Studies. Bishop is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Psychology and Christian Counseling.

For Bishop Orville Beckford the sky is the limit, and he will stop at nothing in developing himself, and those around him who show a passion for the Lord and a hunger for knowledge.
